Infant Bad Breath – What’s a Mother To Do?
Since babies can’t brush their teeth or gargle with mouthwash they have to rely on you. Some of the initial baby bad breath problems could be caused by your infant reusing his/her pacifier, sucking on his blanket or similar baby things. Your first approach should be washing the above items frequently.
If this doesn’t work and your baby appears healthy he might have dry mouth. This occurs when anyone sleeps with their mouth open. This typically is called morning mouth. A possible solution would be giving your baby water after each feeding to wash any milk or food particles and just before sleep time.
If you’ve done everything so far and you haven’t cured your baby’s bad breath then you might want see your pediatrician. Some other causes of infant bad breath could be from congestion, or throat or sinus infection. Your baby should have a sweet breath so following these guidelines should keep it so.
