Here’s a news flash from NBC5 WMAQ-TV in Chicago. Dentist Dr. Jill Wade says that "breath strips are fine, but they won’t last long, which may be all right depending on the circumstances. Wade said Listerine would not necessarily keep breath fresh 10 minutes after use, as it doesn’t have in it what it needs."
This comes as no surprise. Breath strips don’t have what it takes to do the job. Some of them contain propylene glycol which can dry out your mouth. It’s not harmful, but dry mouth encourages the growth of anareobic bacteria, which cause the majority of your bad breath problems. As an aside, propylene glycol is used in antifreeze. Isn’t that special?!
The bottom line is that breath strips may save the moment, but good brushing, flossing, and tongue cleaning techniques will save the day.
