What Causes Bad Breath ~Poor Oral Hygiene

This shouldn’t be a surprise as to what causes bad breath. The most obvious are when you don’t clean your teeth, gums, tongue and mouth regularly odor-causing bacteria will eventually thrive in your mouth. Poor oral hygiene can be one of the causes of bad breath. This means practicing good oral hygiene including brushing after meals, flossing regularly, and visiting your dentist for regular dental cleaning.  This should be a no brainer but just checking to see if the bacterium hasn’t affected your brain.

Certain Habits Cause a Smelly Breath

Like dah…yes there are some things that you do that can cause bad breath.  The obvious ones are garlic, onions, alcohol, and cigarettes so you have to plan for them. In other words, if you’re with your partner each should indulge.  So with these habits you’re going to have to bring in the big guns.  My recommendation is mouthwash which kills the bacteria and neutralizes the smells. Gum and mints are a short term solution.  For your information these onion and garlic guys contain chemical material that are immediately absorbed into the bloodstream and emerge as bad breath. This is similar to eating too much garlic and you can smell it coming out of your pores. Smoking just gives you dragonbreath or deathbreath.  After smoking do yourself a favor and  your co-workers and gargle with some mouthwash.

Other Health Conditions Cause Stinky Breath

Another culprit for bad breath is dry mouth. Saliva washes away the particles of food in our mouth reducing the food the bacteria munch on. Dry mouth also can be caused by sleeping with your mouth open or also can be a sign of an underlying health condition. Many times when we are feeling sick we have icky mouth. Another no brainer is that tobacco smoke just smells and the smoke dries the mouth. Other health conditions that cause bad breath are sinus problems, poor digestion, poor liver function, lung infections, and disease of the gums.

As you can see, bad breath can be caused by poor oral-hygiene, bad habits, or other health conditions. So when you’ve tried many times to cure your bad breath and failed, you may have just missed the underlying cause of the condition instead of targeting it. If you want to know what causes bad breath in your case, get a proper diagnosis. The best way to treat bad breath is by first visiting your dentist and reading the Bad Breath Bible….why not it’s FREE.
