Brushing Dog Teeth Month
February has been designated National Pet Dental Month by the American Veterinary Medical Society, the American Veterinary Dental Society and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
What a great idea having a National Pet Dental Month! If nothing else, it should remind you to make an appointment to have your pet checked by your veterinarian. Did you know that dental care for dogs is the main reason for dog bad breath? And you thought it was all that icky stuff he ate.
The reason Fido has bad breath is very similar to why we have bad breath, so cleaning dog teeth is very important, the same as cleaning our teeth is important. The health of the dogs mouth also is a good indication of his total health.
Cleaning dog teeth is not all that hard once you get a system going. Make it a game with your dog. They make special dog toothpaste (doggie flavored) and special brushes. There are many resources available online or ask your veterinarian during the National Pet Dental Month. That means now!
