What Does Teeth Whitening Cost?

One of the most important questions that people have when it comes to teeth whitening is how much will it cost? Is it going to be extremely expensive or are there more affordable options available? The prices vary considerably depending on where you live, but hare some ball park figures for what you may expect to pay for various teeth whitening methods.

Working Out the Cost of Teeth Whitening

There are a number of factors that will contribute to the cost of teeth whitening. The main thing that will determine how much you will have to pay is how much staining you have and how much enamel damage your teeth have.

Every person is different and damage to teeth can occur from drinking too much coffee and too much red wine. People who smoke will also have serious staining problems. Drinking too much pure juice such as orange juice, can break down the tooth enamel and cause staining. The amount of staining that your teeth have will determine what kind and how many whitening treatments you will need. The more treatments that are needed, the higher the cost will be. If you need professional whitening, then the cost will be higher.

Teeth Bleaching Methods Cost Less

Another factor that will determine how much you have to pay will be the actual whitening method that you choose. Most people go with the general bleaching option which tends to take place over a period of a few weeks. This can be done with either appointments with your dentist or at home whitening treatments. Either way, and the results will take a week or more to show up. The more dental visits you have, the more you will pay. If you want all of your teeth whitened then it will typically cost around $500 for the general bleaching procedure.

If your staining isn't severe or do not have much money to spare, then your best option is to try home kits. These can be bought both in store and at your local dentist’s office. Obviously a kit created by your dentist will be of higher quality than a store bought product. Not all home kits will work on everyone. Part of the results depend on how stained your teeth are and part on how faithful you are in adhering to your bleaching schedule. However, but it certainly is a relatively inexpensive option that many people have had good success with. For home kits you should expect to pay between $30-$150; depending upon where you get them from.

Laser Teeth Whitening Cost

If money is not an option then you may want to consider laser whitening. This involves a whitening gel being applied to the teeth and a laser beam is then shone onto the gel to activate the ingredients. Together the gel and the beam produce fast results and it will cost you between $300-$1,000. The laser method known as Zoom Whitening can be found for the wide range of prices of $300-$1200. There is also the BriteSmile method that costs between $400-$1000. Britesmile and Zoom say that you can get results within one hour.

Obviously different areas will have different prices. If you live in Alabama then the price that you pay for teeth whitening will be a little different than a New York City price. So you should only use the prices shown within this article as a guide. No matter where you live it is always a good idea to look around to see what the cheapest prices are.

Overall tooth whitening is a popular procedure and if you want the whitest results then you should use either professional bleaching or laser whitening treatments. However if you don't need teeth that are as white as snow or are on a budget, try out store bought home whitening kits.
