Therabreath Oral Rinse- A New Approach to Fight Bad
Breath
Bad breath plagues a lot of people, but few people know the solution. They use traditional products that either
conceal their bad breath or contribute to more bad breath. If you are like most of us, you don't read
the ingredients on your mouthwash labels. You either grab what you had last time, what you saw in an ad, or
maybe what is on sale. So what is so special about Therabreath Oral Rinse that makes it different
from your usual mouth wash and is it worth you taking the effort to try it out?
The Therabreath system consists of many products, including Therabreath Oral Rinse, that contain a revolutionary
compound (OXYD-8). Bad breath is caused by anaerobic bacteria that live in your mouth, OXYD-8 creates oxygenating
reactions inside your mouth that attack these odor-causing bacteria. Think your usual mouthwash just isn't cutting it?

How Therabreath Oral Rinse Is Different From Other Mouthwashes
There are very few ingredients in Therabreath Oral Rinse.
- Concentrated OXYD-8 (proprietary stabilized ClO2)
- Zinc gluconate
- Tea tree oil
- Purified water
- Sodium bicarbonate
- PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil
- Essential oil of spearmint
- Sodium benzoate
- Citric acid
You may recognize some of these ingredients and you can actually pronounce all of them. The ingredients that are
of special interest to you are the OXYD-8, zinc gluconate, and tea tree oil.
A dry mouth lacks oxygen and creates ideal conditions for bad breath causing anaerobic bacteria to thrive.
OXYD-8, is a proprietary stabilized chlorine dioxide compound created by Therabreath that oxygenates the inside of
your mouth, counteracting the sulfur compounds that the bacteria create and destroying the conditions that the
bacteria like to live in. Zinc gluconate helps to eliminate certain tastes (sour, bitter, metallic) in your mouth.
Tea tree oil has natural anti-microbial properties.
Therabreath DOES NOT contain any of these ingredients:
- Alcohol - will dry out your mouth and cause bad breath
- Saccharin - has been known to cause a bad taste and sometimes bad breath
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - foaming ingredient in soap, that dehydrates your mouth which leads to bad
breath.
- Benzalkonium Chloride - an allergen
These are ingredients that you will usually find in traditional mouthwash brands.
How To UseTherabreath Oral Rinse
Most people rinse and gargle with mouthwash after brushing - or even instead of brushing. Therabreath recommends
using their product two or three times a day, and suggests that you use it as a part of their seven step system of
oral hygiene (see Therabreath System article). In this system, after brushing with a toothpaste that
contains no sodium lauryl sulfate, you rinse your mouth with water, then swish the Oral Rinse in your mouth for
a minute and a half and gargle as far back into your throat as is comfortable. After swishing, floss your teeth,
but first dip the floss into the oral rinse so you apply the OXYD-8 between your teeth. After flossing, then
gargle for a second time. One again, swish and gargle again for a minimum of 45 seconds and up to 90 seconds if
you can manage it. By this time, your mouth will be well oxygenated.
What Is The Best Mouthwash For You?
The best mouthwash depends upon what you want. If all you are looking for is a tingly taste in your mouth or a
strong aroma of mint, cinnamon, or orange, then one of the standard mouthwash brands will be just fine. If you are
using a mouthwash specifically for getting rid of bad breath, then you need to look for a mouthwash with no
alcohol, one that doesn't contain sodium lauryl sulfate, or sweeteners but it does contain ingredients that will
oxygenate your mouth.
The reasoning behind the long gargling and swishing with their oral rinse is that the longer the mouthwash comes
in contact with the anaerobic bacteria in your mouth and with the areas where these bacteria thrive, the
better.
Therabreath Oral Rinse and Therabreath Plus Oral Rinse will help you get rid of your bad breath, not just cover
it up. Try it out. The Therabreath Free Trial comes with two bottles of Oral Rinse.
